The Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV) continues to provide valuable insights into Australia’s trailer market, tracking which manufacturers are actively securing regulatory approval to supply the Australian market. For Q3 2025, we’re pleased to present our second edition of the Truck Trailer & Small Trailer Market Report, now with year-on-year comparison data that reveals significant shifts in manufacturer activity and market concentration.
With Q3 2024 data now available for comparison, this report marks an important milestone in our RAV-based trailer market analysis. The figures presented here reflect regulatory approvals for Q3 2025 compared against the same quarter last year, allowing us to identify growth trends, market shifts, and changing dynamics across both the truck trailer and small trailer segments.
The RAV, maintained under the Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018 (RVSA), includes vehicles approved for supply to the Australian market, whether new or used. It is important to note that inclusion on the RAV reflects regulatory approval, not actual sales. As such, a vehicle may be registered on the RAV without being sold immediately, or even at all. Despite this limitation, RAV data offers valuable insight into which brands and models are actively entering the market and serves as a useful proxy for supply-side activity and manufacturer output.
In this report, we break down the Q3 2025 figures for truck trailers and small trailers, identifying the leading manufacturers and examining market concentration across both segments whilst comparing performance against Q3 2024.
A Note on Methodology
Due to the profusion of small-scale manufacturers active in both the truck trailer and small trailer segments, and the proportion of the market they account for, it was impractical to list every minor manufacturer individually. Consequently, we decided to categorise these small manufacturers under the broad title of ‘Other makes’, with the top 10 manufacturers in each segment reserved for large, notable brands.

Despite the overall market contraction, the top 10 named manufacturers now account for 54.4% of total approvals, up from 56.3% in Q3 2024, as ‘Other makes’ captured 45.6% of the market compared to 43.7% last year.

Market Fragmentation and the Role of 'Other Makes'
The ‘Other makes’ category accounted for 45.6% of all truck trailer approvals in Q3 2025, representing 1,841 entries compared to 2,133 in Q3 2024. Despite recording 292 fewer approvals, ‘Other makes’ actually increased its market share by 1.9 percentage points from 43.7% last year, underscoring the fragmented nature of Australia’s truck trailer sector, where numerous smaller manufacturers, custom builders, and specialist producers continue to meet diverse industry requirements across regional markets and specific applications.
Small Trailers
The small trailer segment recorded 33,095 entries on the Register of Approved Vehicles in Q3 2025, posting impressive growth, with 3,527 entries compared to the 29,568 recorded in Q3 2024, representing an 11.9% year-on-year increase. Whilst ‘Other makes’ continues to dominate the market rankings, its share declined significantly from 54.0% to 46.1%, reflecting strengthening activity from named manufacturers across the segment.

Victorian Trailers held second place with 2,355 approvals, representing 7.1% of the market. Despite adding 46 entries compared to Q3 2024’s 2,309, the manufacturer lost 0.7 percentage points of market share as other competitors grew more aggressively.
Century Trailers delivered exceptional growth, surging from 963 entries in Q3 2024 to 1,473 in Q3 2025, adding 510 approvals and capturing an additional 1.3 percentage points to reach 4.5% market share. This substantial jump marks one of the segment’s strongest performances.

The ‘Other makes’ category accounted for 46.1% of all small trailer approvals in Q3 2025, representing 15,270 entries compared to 15,964 in Q3 2024. Despite the overall market growing by 3,527 entries year-on-year, ‘Other makes’ actually declined by 694 approvals and lost 7.7 percentage points of market share, falling from 53.8% last year.
This significant shift reflects the strengthening position of named manufacturers in the small trailer segment, as established brands captured a larger proportion of the growing market through increased production volumes and expanded distribution networks.
