Q2 2026 Truck Trailer Market Report

Updated: Aug 27, 2026 | | 8 minute

Q2 2026 brought a softer truck trailer approval market than a year earlier, with total RAV entries falling 11.1% from 4,163 to 3,702. Even so, we saw stronger concentration among the leading named manufacturers, with Vawdrey extending its lead while Cimcau, Road West Transport, and FWR Trailers gained meaningful ground. Read on for our full breakdown of the named manufacturers and the brand movements shaping the market.

A Note on Methodology

This report is based on Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV) entries, which reflect regulatory approvals rather than retail sales. Each approval represents a make appearing on the Register, and the data is reported at a quarterly level. We compare Q2 2026 directly with Q2 2025 as our primary year-on-year lens, drawing on quarter-on-quarter comparisons against Q1 2026 where they add meaningful context. Major manufacturers are reported individually, while the highly fragmented remainder of the market is grouped under ‘Other Makes’. Market share figures are calculated as each manufacturer’s share of total RAV entries in the relevant quarter.

All data is refreshed with each quarterly report, so figures within any given edition reflect the most current available snapshot. As such, some metrics may shift quarter-over-quarter as these refinements are applied.

Truck Trailers: Top 5 Manufacturers

Among individually named manufacturers, the top end of the market remained familiar in Q2 2026, although the gap between first and the rest widened. Vawdrey held first position with 454 approvals, up 48 from 406 in Q2 2025, and lifted share from 9.8% to 12.3%. That was the clearest gain among the leading established brands and reinforced Vawdrey’s distance from the rest of the field.

Maxitrans stayed second with 267 approvals in Q2 2026, down 26 year-on-year from 293, although its share still edged up from 7.0% to 7.2% because the total market contracted more sharply than its own volume. Bruce Rock Engineering remained third with 158 approvals, 17 below Q2 2025, yet still improved its share marginally from 4.2% to 4.3%.

The next part of the top five was more mixed. Jamieson remained in the leading group, but recorded the steepest decline among the front-running named brands, falling 54 approvals from 158 to 104 and dropping from 3.8% to 2.8% share. AAA Trailers also finished on 104 approvals, down 13 year-on-year, with share steady at 2.8%. In practical terms, that left Jamieson and AAA Trailers level on approvals in Q2 2026, while the broader top five order remained intact year-on-year when viewed through named manufacturers only.

The Rest of the Top 10 Brands

Below the top five, the most notable gain came from Cimcau. Its approvals rose from 68 in Q2 2025 to 99 in Q2 2026, a lift of 31 entries, while share increased from 1.6% to 2.7%. That was enough to move Cimcau firmly into the upper half of the named top 10.

FWR Trailers was the most striking new arrival in the leading group, moving from zero approvals in Q2 2025 to 92 in Q2 2026 and establishing a 2.5% share immediately. Howard Porter added more moderate growth, rising from 82 to 91 approvals and improving from 2.0% to 2.5% share. Road West Transport also surged, climbing from 32 to 89 approvals and expanding share from 0.8% to 2.4%.

Krueger rounded out the named top 10 with 84 approvals in Q2 2026, down from 98 a year earlier, while share eased only slightly from 2.4% to 2.3%. Just outside that group, Lionel Moore fell from 98 to 76 approvals, and Stonestar eased from 76 to 73, showing that the middle of the market remained competitive even as a handful of faster-moving brands gained momentum.

Market Fragmentation and the Role of 'Other Makes'

The truck trailer market remains highly fragmented, and Other makes continued to account for the largest single pool of approvals in Q2 2026. That grouping recorded 1,639 approvals, down from 1,838 in Q2 2025, but its share was effectively unchanged at 44.3% versus 44.2% a year earlier. As such, fragmentation remained a defining feature of the market even as total approvals softened.

This matters because the leading named brands are competing inside a market where almost half of all approvals still sit outside the individually reported manufacturer set. As a result, gains from brands such as Vawdrey, Cimcau, and Road West Transport stand out not just because of raw volume growth, but because they were achieved in a market that remains widely distributed across many smaller players.

New and Emerging Manufacturers Gain Ground

Outside the most established names, Q2 2026 still produced several year-on-year growth stories worth highlighting. Barker Trailers increased from 34 approvals in Q2 2025 to 56 in Q2 2026, a 64.7% rise that also lifted share from 0.8% to 1.5%. That result came from a smaller base than the major manufacturers, but it still points to stronger approval activity and a more credible market presence.

Tip Trailers R Us also made progress in Q2 2026, rising from 46 approvals in Q2 2025 to 65. That 41.3% year-on-year increase saw share improve from 1.1% to 1.8%, giving it a firmer foothold among the smaller named manufacturers and showing that growth was not confined to the top end of the table.

FWR Trailers was the clearest new entrant in the Q2 2026 data, moving from no recorded approvals in Q2 2025 to 92 in Q2 2026. That immediate 2.5% share made it one of the more consequential additions to the named manufacturer set. Road West Transport also deserves attention here, climbing from 32 approvals to 89 year-on-year, a 178.1% increase that turned a previously minor position into a much more competitive one.

Together, these movements suggest that even within a contracting market, smaller and emerging names were still able to build visibility and capture a larger slice of approval activity. That points to fresh competitive pressure developing beyond the most established trailer brands.

Trust Retain Media for Industry-Leading Insights

Our reading of the Q2 2026 truck trailer RAV data shows a market that contracted year-on-year but still created room for clear winners. Vawdrey strengthened its leadership, Cimcau and Road West Transport accelerated, and FWR Trailers emerged as a new force in the named manufacturer set. For marketers, suppliers, and industry decision-makers, that combination of softer total volume and sharper movement among individual brands offers a more useful picture of competitive change than topline volume alone.
