Q2 2026 Small Trailer and Boat Trailer Market Report

Updated: Aug 27, 2026 | | 8 minute

We observed two very different year-on-year stories in Q2 2026 across the trailer market. In small trailers, total RAV approvals increased, but the growth came more from the fragmented tail than from the leading named manufacturers. In boat trailers, the segment contracted and became even more concentrated around the top brand.

Read on for our full category breakdown and the standout manufacturer movements shaping the market.

A Note on Methodology

This report draws on Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV) entries, which capture regulatory approvals rather than end-customer sales. We focus specifically on Q2 2026 compared with Q2 2025, tracking changes in approval counts and market share for each major make. Top-ranked manufacturers are listed individually, while the remainder of the highly fragmented market is grouped into “Other makes”. Market share figures reference each manufacturer’s proportion of total small trailer approvals in Q2 2025 and Q2 2026.

Small Trailers: Top Five Manufacturers

Among the individually named manufacturers, Stonegate Industries remained the leading small trailer brand in Q2 2026. Approvals increased from 3,444 in Q2 2025 to 3,526 in Q2 2026, a gain of 82 entries or 2.4%. Its share of the total small trailer market eased only slightly from 10.9% to 10.8%, proving Stonegate held its leading position even as market growth was absorbed elsewhere.

Victorian Trailers retained second place among named brands and posted one of the stronger upper-tier gains. Approvals rose from 2,398 in Q2 2025 to 2,540 in Q2 2026, up 142 entries or 5.9%, while share improved from 7.6% to 7.8%.

Telwater Trailers moved from fourth to third among named manufacturers in Q2 2026. Its approvals increased from 1,326 in Q2 2025 to 1,409 in Q2 2026, a rise of 83 entries or 6.3%, and share lifted from 4.2% to 4.3%. That gain was enough to push Telwater ahead of Century Trailers in the named rankings.

Century Trailers slipped from third to fourth despite remaining one of the larger named brands in the market. Approvals fell from 1,438 in Q2 2025 to 1,273 in Q2 2026, down 165 entries or 11.5%, while share declined from 4.6% to 3.9%.

The Bigman Trailers completed the top five named manufacturers in both periods. Approvals edged up from 721 in Q2 2025 to 739 in Q2 2026, a modest increase of 18 entries or 2.5%, although share eased marginally from 2.3% to 2.3% as the broader market expanded.

Small Trailers: The Rest of the Top 10

The most notable movement below the top five came from MW Manufacturing and Cruiser Trailer And Chassis. MW Manufacturing climbed from ninth among named brands in Q2 2025 to sixth in Q2 2026 after approvals increased from 499 to 709. That 210 entry gain represented year-on-year growth of 42.1%, while share rose from 1.6% to 2.2%.

Cruiser Trailer And Chassis made an even bigger climb in ranking terms, moving from fourteenth in Q2 2025 to seventh in Q2 2026. Approvals increased from 351 to 544, a gain of 193 entries or 55.0%, and share lifted from 1.1% to 1.7%.

Coastmac Trailers slipped from seventh to eighth as approvals fell from 587 in Q2 2025 to 535 in Q2 2026. Superior Trailer Parts moved from eighth to ninth and remained flat on volume, recording 525 approvals in both quarters, though share eased from 1.7% to 1.6%.

Dunbier saw the sharpest decline within the named top 10. It fell from sixth in Q2 2025 to tenth in Q2 2026 after approvals dropped from 715 to 500, a decline of 215 entries or 30.1%. Share also fell from 2.3% to 1.5%, making Dunbier one of the clearest examples of brand-level pressure in the Q2 2026 dataset.

Market Fragmentation and the Role of 'Other Makes'

Fragmentation deepened in the small trailer market in Q2 2026. The “Other makes” bucket increased from 15,164 approvals in Q2 2025 to 16,718 in Q2 2026, a gain of 1,554 entries or 10.2%. Its share of the total market also widened from 48.1% to 51.4%.

That shift matters because total small trailer approvals rose from 31,539 in Q2 2025 to 32,528 in Q2 2026, an increase of 989 entries or 3.1%. Yet the named manufacturers collectively moved the other way, declining in combined volume even as the total market grew. In practical terms, the category expanded year-on-year, but that growth sat with the fragmented tail rather than with the named brand field as a whole.

The result is a market where leading named manufacturers such as Stonegate Industries, Victorian Trailers, and Telwater Trailers still performed well, but where fragmentation became more pronounced overall. That makes “Other makes” an important part of the structural story in Q2 2026, even though it is not treated as a competitive rank.

Boat Trailers: Top Five Manufacturers

The boat trailer segment told a sharper and more concentrated year-on-year story. Total approvals fell from 2,114 in Q2 2025 to 1,909 in Q2 2026, a decline of 205 entries or 9.7%. Unlike small trailers, where total volume grew while fragmentation widened, boat trailers became smaller and more concentrated, likely due to the growing weight of the top brand.

Telwater Trailers remained the leading named boat trailer manufacturer in Q2 2026 and strengthened its position year on year. Approvals increased from 1,326 in Q2 2025 to 1,409 in Q2 2026, a gain of 83 entries or 6.3%. Share rose from 62.7% to 73.8%, reinforcing the brand’s dominance in a segment that became even more top-heavy.

Dunbier remained second, but moved in the opposite direction. Approvals fell from 715 in Q2 2025 to 500 in Q2 2026, down 215 entries or 30.1%, while share dropped from 33.8% to 26.2%. That left Dunbier as the clearest major loser in the segment over the period.

Easytow Boat Trailers, Redco and Towrex Trailers finished equal third in Q2 2026, with all three recording zero approvals. In Q2 2025, Easytow Boat Trailers had posted 73 approvals and held a 3.5% share, while Redco and Towrex Trailers had also recorded no approvals. The result underlines how little competitive depth remained beneath the top two brands in the latest quarter.

Boat Trailer Market Narrows at the Top

The defining shift in boat trailers was not only lower volume, but tighter concentration. In Q2 2025, Telwater Trailers and Dunbier accounted for 96.5% of all boat trailer approvals. In Q2 2026, those top two brands accounted for 100.0% of the segment.

That change leaves the boat trailer market looking more dependent on a single dominant brand and less supported by a viable second tier of challengers. Telwater Trailers strengthened further, Dunbier weakened materially, and the remaining named brands made no contribution at all in Q2 2026. From our perspective, that makes boat trailers one of the clearest examples in the report of a segment narrowing around its leaders rather than broadening across the field.

Trust Retain Media for Industry-Leading Insights

Q2 2026 produced two distinct year-on-year outcomes across the trailer market. In small trailers, total approvals increased, but fragmentation widened, and much of the growth sat with “Other makes” rather than with the named manufacturers as a group. In boat trailers, total approvals declined and concentration strengthened, with Telwater Trailers tightening its lead while competitive depth beneath the top two brands thinned further.

For marketers, dealers, and manufacturers, these results offer a clearer view of where trailer market strength is consolidating, where fragmentation is intensifying, and where brand-level pressure is becoming harder to ignore. The data shows that growth alone does not always signal healthier competitive conditions, especially in Q2 2026, where structure mattered just as much as scale.
